Content’s Best Wingman: The Feedly App
Informative and User-Friendly
Feedly App has a very user-friendly interface that allows you to quickly categorize what interests you and what is interesting to your audience. Basic features include finding articles from multiple website authors all in one place, the ability to share that content immediately to Twitter, Facebook, Evernote, SMS, Buffer to name a few. The Feedly app has countless online resources giving PR professionals a strong pulse on what is going on from gaming to food, to startups, and science.
Down the Rabbit Hole
Feedly’s user-friendly and visually stimulating platform makes it very easy to fall down the rabbit hole by reading endless amounts content. With beautiful pictures and captions that lead you to the source of each article, You’re able to find new leads on industry leaders, learn what your audience is gravitating to currently, which could lead to new viewers, followers and clients. I enjoy starting my morning’s learning, researching, and brand building with Feedly. I feel like I could write 100 press releases with the information I gather from this app alone.
One of my biggest issues with this app is that the information is not available offline. When I was stuck on the subway, on a plane, or in a country that has less than desirable Wi-Fi, I found that every article I saved to read later was not available. The app is wireless dependent. This is not a major problem because we are rarely in a situation where there won’t be access to a wireless connection sooner or later. If the signal is weak, or cutting in and out you will still encounter the same issue which at least to me is very aggravating. At the moment, I save the articles I want to read later in Evernote so I can read them even where a Wi-Fi signal isn’t available.
My Dream App
My dream PR app would be a cross between Evernote– where you can take pictures and notate, add voice recorded content, and share it with others working on a specific project, and an application where I could create my best-finished content and post it immediately on my website or social media. I want a mobile tool that allows me to build a blog post, tells me how searchable and powerful my title and content is, suggests better keywords, and instruct me from an already attached list of social platforms where and when to post. If I could do that and add multimedia from the Cloud, YouTube, of Adobe Photoshop I would be able to create all my content on my tablet or iPhone and post from anywhere anytime. It would be a one-stop shop app.
