Las Olas Wine & Food Festival Gets a Face Lift for its 21st Birthday
Fort Lauderdale, FL April 16th, 2016–
The 21st Annual Las Olas Wine & Food Festival presented by The American Lung Association will be on April 29th, 2016 from 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
The famed Las Olas Boulevard will be closed to all vehicular traffic. South Floridians will be able to enjoy five city blocks of wine tastings, food samplings, culinary presentations and competitions, mixology classes, and more. Proceeds will go to the continued research and education of lung disease, currently the third leading cause of death in the United States.
The LOWFF has received a considerable amount of scrutiny over the past few years. Previous attendees complained that the event was not worth the outrageous ticket price—demanding $225 for VIP access to the event’s attractions.
The American Lung Association took notice and decided it was time to make a dramatic change.
“The Las Olas Wine & Food Festival
has been a great event since it started, and we’ve been involved from the beginning,” said Bob Drinon, the LOWFF event partner and president of Breakthru Beverage South Region. “We’re excited to take the event to the next level with the addition of Ashley [Bencivenga] and CI Management, we know it’s going to be an experience like never before.”
The CI Management team is responsible for creating the South Beach Seafood Festival, Chef Showdown, and are the producers of The South of Spice. They guarantee to give the perennial festival a fresh look by introducing all new features:
- Luxury lounges on every street hosted by William Hill, New Amsterdam, Woodford Reserve, KURO at the Hard Rock Casino, Mercantil Jazz Lounge, Celebrity Cruises Dessert Bar, and more
- Live music on the main stage by DJ Irie, who will host the inaugural Best of the Best restaurant competition. Six chefs will go head to head in the categories of land, sea, and pub
- Event competition judges will include radio and T.V. personalities Nina and Michelle of Y100, Kelly and Erika of NBC 6, Gio of Chat Chow, and 2 other media guests
Luke Moorman, President of The Las Olas Association, noted that the Wine & Food Festival is “… another example of how we partner with non-profits to bring exciting special events to the boulevard that visitors and locals can enjoy; which in turn helps to remind people of our unique exceptional shopping and dining destination.”
